32mm FlipTop® Pull-Ring Seal (Flower Type)
The 32mm FlipTop® Pull-Ring is the wide-neck member of the pull-ring family, built as a flower design with eight polypropylene fins: the operator pulls the aluminium ring and turns it anticlockwise, and the whole seal detaches once the polypropylene disc is detached. Assembled height is 14.30 to 15.30 mm, inner aluminium diameter is 32.15 to 32.40 mm, maximum opening force is 65 N, and standard packing is 1,400 seals per box. It is made to ISO 8362-6.
Autofits is one of the few manufacturers of pull-ring seals in India. The mechanism and the smaller size are on the FlipTop® Pull-Ring page, and every closure family Autofits makes is indexed on the products overview.
Key takeaways
- The 32 mm pull-ring removes the whole seal by hand on a wide-neck vial, with no decapper or crimp tool.
- Eight fins in a flower design; the fins spread grip around a diameter that would be hard to turn on a plain disc.
- Assembled height 14.30–15.30 mm, inner aluminium Ø 32.15–32.40 mm, PP disc Ø 36.20–36.60 mm.
- Inner aluminium height 13.20–13.60 mm, aluminium thickness 0.20–0.26 mm.
- Maximum opening force 65 N, the highest in the Autofits range.
- Standard packing is 1,400 per box (700 × 2 bags) in a 420 × 270 × 320 mm shipper; Tyvek bagging available.
What is the 32mm FlipTop® Pull-Ring seal?
The 32 mm pull-ring is an aluminium-plastic combination cap for wide-neck vials, opened by pulling an aluminium ring and rotating it anticlockwise so the whole seal detaches once the polypropylene disc is detached. The AA8011 shell crimps under the vial neck flange and holds the rubber stopper compressed against the glass, a moulded polypropylene disc carrying eight fins sits on top, and the aluminium ring is presented at the surface as the grip.
The flower geometry is a response to diameter. Breaking the crimp on a 32 mm seal takes more torque than on a 20 mm one, and maximum opening force is quoted at 65 N against 35 N for the smaller size. Eight fins spread that effort around the circumference so the closure stays a hand-opened part. The sequence does not change: pull the ring, turn anticlockwise, and the whole assembly leaves the vial.
Match the seal to a 32 mm vial finish and a 32 mm stopper of the same nominal diameter; vial necks follow ISO 8362-1. The bridge-design version of the same mechanism is the 20 mm pull-ring.

Materials and quality
The shell is AA8011 aluminium alloy (EN 15088:2005, EN 10204-3.1, REACH and RoHS compliant) with an epoxy lacquer coating to 21 CFR 175.300 that may be pigmented for colour. The flower disc is polypropylene to IS 10910 / IS 10909 and FDA 21 CFR 177.1520, moulded in-house on Japanese Toyo machines. Heavy metals are held to not more than 100 ppm total and the parts are BSE/TSE-free to EMEA/410/01 rev. 3.
Aluminium is washed on an automated line, every seal passes 100% high-speed camera inspection, and assembly is in an ISO Class 8 cleanroom at the 75,000 sq ft Nashik plant. Production runs under ISO 15378:2017 GMP with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certification, a Drug Master File (DMF 18100) and CFDA registration B20200000501. AQL is critical nil, major not more than 2.5%, minor not more than 4%. See ISO 8362-6, the standard for aluminium-plastics combination caps.
Forms of supply
The 32 mm pull-ring ships Regular (non-sterile bulk), Ready-to-Use (assembled and washed in the ISO Class 8 cleanroom, gamma or ETO sterilized, double-bagged for aseptic areas) and Ready-to-Sterilize. Shelf life is 3.5 years before capping for non-irradiated seals, plus 5 years after capping, and 2 years before capping for Ready-to-Use. Tyvek bagging is an option. At 1,400 seals per box this is the lowest box count in the range, so plan pallet quantities against that figure.
Applications
The 32 mm pull-ring is used for contrast media, the wide-neck, larger-fill imaging category where the closure is removed whole and by hand. Contrast agents are supplied in bigger vials than most injectables, are drawn or transferred rather than accessed repeatedly through a small point, and move through imaging suites at pace, so a closure that comes off in one turn with no decapper fits the workflow.
The same characteristics carry to other wide-neck presentations: larger-fill and bulk formats, diluent containers, and products reconstituted before administration. The alternative at this size is the 32 mm tear-down, where the disc is riveted to the aluminium and is opened before being turned; the mechanisms are compared in pull-ring vs tear-down seals. Every 32 mm construction Autofits makes is on the 32 mm by-size index, and the flip-off alternatives sit in the FlipTop® range.
Frequently asked questions
What is the height of a 32mm pull-ring seal?
Total assembled height is 14.30 to 15.30 mm, with an inner aluminium section 13.20 to 13.60 mm high. Inner aluminium diameter is 32.15 to 32.40 mm, polypropylene disc diameter is 36.20 to 36.60 mm, and aluminium thickness is 0.20 to 0.26 mm.
How do you open a 32mm pull-ring vial seal?
Lift the aluminium ring, pull it, and rotate it anticlockwise. The whole seal detaches once the polypropylene disc is detached, so the aluminium and the disc come away together and the full vial mouth is exposed. No crimp tool or decapper is needed, and the seal cannot be reseated once removed.
Why does the 32mm pull-ring use a flower design?
The flower design places eight moulded fins around the disc so the operator’s grip is spread around the circumference. A 32 mm seal takes more torque to release than a 20 mm one, at a maximum opening force of 65 N against 35 N, and the fins make that force workable by hand.
What is the 32mm pull-ring seal used for?
It is used for contrast media, the imaging category supplied in wide-neck, larger-fill vials where the closure is removed whole and by hand. It also suits bulk formats, diluent containers, and products reconstituted before administration.
How many 32mm pull-ring seals are in a box?
Standard packing is 1,400 seals per box, supplied as 700 in each of two bags, in a 420 by 270 by 320 mm shipper. Tyvek bagging is available as an alternative and minimum order quantities are available on request.
