Our FlipTop® Tear Down seals, available in sizes 13 and 20 mm, are designed for specific applications, such as oral vaccinations.
These seals are characterized by the riveting of the PP Disc and the Aluminium seals, featuring a bridge-type design.
The FlipTop® Tear Down range of seals are flipped open and torn down along the side groove to access the injectable medicine.
Printing on the aluminium surface, glossy and matte finishes on the PP disc, as well as printing and emboss on the PP disc (all Pantone shades)

Autofits manufactures the full range of pharmaceutical vial closures: FlipTop® aluminium-plastic seals (flip-off, pull-ring and tear-down), all-aluminium tear-off and tear-down seals, and aluminium pilfer-proof (ROPP) caps. Every closure crimps over the rubber stopper to form the sterile barrier; the families differ in construction, how the user opens them, and which neck sizes they cover.
This page is the top-level map of the Autofits product range. Use the matrix below to compare the families at a glance, then follow the links into each family or size page for dimensions and ordering detail.
A vial seal does one job above all: it holds the rubber stopper compressed against the glass neck so the vial stays sterile until first use. Every Autofits closure does this by crimping or rolling aluminium under the vial neck flange. What changes from family to family is the top of the closure and the way the user gets in.
The FlipTop® range is an aluminium-plastics combination: an aluminium shell crimps over the stopper, and a polypropylene (PP) disc or button sits on top. The plastic top gives the user a clean opening action and a surface for colour-coding and printing. Within this range, the Optima design flips a button off to expose the injection point, the Pull-Ring design lets the whole seal come away once the disc is detached, and the Tear-Down design twists off anticlockwise so the seal lifts clear; the latter is used mainly for oral vaccinations.
The all-aluminium range drops the plastic top entirely. Tear-off seals are torn open by removing the metal top, exposing the stopper; tear-down seals in all-aluminium form tear down a section of the seal. These suit a metal-only specification.
Pilfer-proof (ROPP) caps are a different format: aluminium screw caps that are threaded onto the bottle or vial during capping, with a tamper-evident band that separates when the cap is first unscrewed.
| Product family | Construction | How it opens | Sizes available | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FlipTop® Optima | Aluminium shell + PP button disc (combination) | Flip the plastic button up to expose the injection point | 13, 20, 28, 32, 34 mm | Routine injectables; colour-coding and printing |
| FlipTop® Pull Ring | Aluminium shell + PP disc with pull ring (combination) | Pull the ring and open anticlockwise; the whole seal detaches | 20 mm (bridge), 32 mm (flower) | Full-seal removal; often marked for oral use |
| FlipTop® Tear-Down | Aluminium shell + PP disc riveted to alu (combination) | Twist the disc anticlockwise to tear the seal down and off | 13, 20, 32 mm | Mainly oral vaccinations |
| Tear-off seals | All-aluminium, no plastic | Tear the metal top away to expose the stopper | 13, 20, 32 mm | Metal-only closure; fuller stopper exposure |
| Tear-down seals | All-aluminium, no plastic | Tear a section of the seal down | 20 mm (others on request) | Metal-only closure |
| Pilfer-proof (ROPP) caps | Aluminium screw cap with tamper band | Unscrew; the tamper band separates on first opening | Available on request | Threaded bottles and vials; tamper evidence |
The two main constructions differ in one decision: whether there is a plastic top.
All of the seals crimp over a rubber stopper seated in a vial whose neck finish follows ISO 8362-1. Match the seal size to the vial neck finish, not to the vial's nominal volume.
Every closure on this page is built to the same quality system. Autofits operates under ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 15378:2017 (GMP for primary packaging materials), holds a Drug Master File (DMF 18100) and a CFDA registration (B20200000501), and follows ISO 15378:2017 and ISO 8362-6 for the combination seals.
Aluminium is alloy AA8011 with an epoxy lacquer coating (conforming to 21 CFR 175.300); PP discs are moulded in-house on Japanese Toyo injection machines. Materials are REACH and RoHS compliant and BSE/TSE-free. Inspection is 100% high-speed camera, with AQL set at critical = nil, major NMT 2.5%, minor NMT 4% (tailorable). Seals are available Regular, Ready-to-Use (RTU, gamma or ETO sterilised) or Ready-to-Sterilise (RTS). See the quality page for the full certification set.
Autofits makes three constructions. The FlipTop® family is an aluminium-plastics combination, offered as flip-off (Optima), pull-ring and tear-down designs. The all-aluminium family includes tear-off and tear-down seals with no plastic top. Separately, Autofits makes aluminium pilfer-proof (ROPP) screw caps with a tamper-evident band.
A flip-off seal (the FlipTop® Optima) is an aluminium-plastics combination: you flip a plastic button up to expose a small injection point while the aluminium stays crimped. A tear-off seal is all aluminium with no plastic top; you tear the metal away to expose the stopper. Both crimp over the stopper to seal the vial.
Across the range, closures are made in 13, 20, 28, 32 and 34 mm, depending on the family. There is no 30 mm size. The size hub shows which products are offered in each size with key dimensions.
They can be. Closures are available Regular, Ready-to-Use (RTU) or Ready-to-Sterilise (RTS). RTU seals are assembled in the ISO Class 8 cleanroom, washed, double-bagged and gamma or ETO sterilised for aseptic-area use.
Yes, by design across the range. The combination seals make tampering visible once the button, ring or disc is disturbed (the Optima Button design has intrinsic tamper evidence), all-aluminium seals show torn metal once opened, and pilfer-proof caps have a band that separates on first unscrewing.
